History and background

The place before the programme

Ham sits between Richmond Park and the Thames. Ham Common and its surrounding roads retain a distinctive mix of common land, woodland and historic houses. The area’s residential character means that a filming record should not be treated as an invitation to identify or visit private homes.

Ludwig production file

How it appears on screen

Richmond Council states that Ludwig Series 2 filmed in Ham during October and November 2025. The public notice confirms the neighbourhood but not a building, scene or episode, so the Casebook deliberately stops at area level.

TV Guide separately reports that the residence seen as Lucy Betts-Taylor’s home was a Richmond production property codenamed “Ham Yard.” The article also calls it “Ham Yard Hotel,” but its linked Fresh Locations record FL1609 describes a mid-century detached house, not a hotel. Treat the house match as a reported lead, not a council-confirmed address or a verified shot-by-shot identification.

Responsible access

Before visiting

Richmond Council confirms filming in Ham but does not identify an episode, scene or property. Ham Common is a legitimate public place to explore the neighbourhood, not a verified Ludwig camera position. Do not seek out suspected private homes or treat a resemblance as a location match.

Lucy’s house is not a visitor venue. Fresh Locations presents “Ham Yard” as a private shoot property and shows real photographs on its authorised listing. Those images are not licensed for reproduction here. The Casebook does not publish a house number, map pin or route to the property. The listing is for production enquiries, not tourist access; please do not approach residents or ask to view the home.

  • Start here: Ham Common, Upper Ham Road, Richmond TW10 5LA. The council describes its pond, avenues and woods as public open space.
  • Opening and cost: The council says Ham Common is accessible at all times. There is no ticket or booking for the common itself. Private houses and gardens have separate access rules.
  • Public transport: Richmond and Kingston are the nearest main stations named by the council. Bus routes 65 and 371 serve the area; check TfL before travelling.
  • Parking: The council lists free public car parks at Ashburnham Road (TW10 7NF) and Ham Street by the river (TW10 7RS). They are separate from the common; check its map, capacity and any changes before choosing one. Do not assume parking at a private filming property.
  • Access and facilities: The council’s Ham Common page does not publish a detailed step-free path survey. Paths and woodland surfaces may vary; ask the council about a suitable route if needed. Use its live toilet finder for nearby facilities rather than assuming toilets are available on the common.
  • Respect the area: Follow the council’s park byelaws and dog-control rules. Keep photographs to public places without intruding on residents, gates or gardens.
