Announcement is not appearance

The visual workflow keeps official casting, role confirmation and broadcast evidence separate.

An empty chair until evidence arrives

The audition space remains deliberately unoccupied: an announced production is not the same as a verified appearance.

Current status

Filming began in September 2026, with David Mitchell and Anna Maxwell Martin returning. At the time of this update, we have not found a publicly verified open audition or supporting-artist call for Series 3.

Production status

Commissioned for six episodes. Casting announcements may appear as production develops.

Open auditions

None verified

We will only describe an audition as open when it can be traced to a recognisable production, casting professional or established casting platform.

Extras

Watch separately

Supporting-artist and background calls may be advertised independently from principal cast auditions, especially around filming locations.

Casting history

Who has cast Ludwig?

Past credits are useful context, but they are not an invitation to contact individuals directly unless an official notice explicitly asks for submissions.

Series 1 credits

Amy Hubbard

Credited as a casting director on Series 1.

Series 1 credits

Shannon Dowling-McNulty

Credited as a casting director on Series 1.

Production company

Big Talk Studios

Ludwig is produced by Big Talk Studios. Its general or work-experience contacts should not be treated as audition submission addresses unless Big Talk explicitly says otherwise.

Before you apply

How we verify a casting notice

Our rule is simple: trace the notice back to whoever is actually casting the production.

Source

Find the original

Prefer the production company, an identifiable casting director, agency or established casting platform over screenshots and copied social posts.

Identity

Check the people

Verify that the named casting professional or company exists and that the contact details match their legitimate public presence.

Specifics

Read the brief

A legitimate notice should make sense: role type, eligibility, location or availability requirements and a credible submission route.

Audition safety: be cautious about casting notices posted only through unverified accounts, requests for inappropriate personal information, unexplained fees, or auditions in private homes or hotel bedrooms. Equity publishes guidance on staying safe at castings and auditions.
Important

We are not the casting office

The Ludwig Casebook is an unofficial fan site. We do not cast actors, employ performers, represent the BBC or Big Talk Studios, accept audition tapes, collect actor applications or forward submissions to the production. If a genuine casting call appears, we will link visitors to the original authorised source rather than accepting applications ourselves.
What this page will track

Casting Watch ledger

As Series 3 develops, this page can become a chronological record rather than a pile of disappearing social posts.

Principal cast announcements

Returning actors, new regulars and major guest-star announcements, with the original source and announcement date.

Open auditions

Only publicly accessible calls that can be independently verified. Each entry should show who issued it, the closing date and whether it is still active.

Supporting artists / extras

Separate tracking for genuine background casting notices, including location and eligibility information where it is safe and appropriate to publish.

Closed notices

Expired calls remain in the archive clearly marked Closed, which helps prevent old screenshots from being mistaken for current opportunities.
