Biography
From repertory theatre to screen
Royale’s own career account describes an early period in repertory theatre, with roles ranging from pantomime principal girl to Miss Marple. She toured nationally as Carol in Julian Slade’s Wildest Dreams, and worked in The Boy Friend and Victorian music hall. Her biography says she produced and performed anthologies with her company Muse and Music for ten years.
Her screen work spans early British television and later film and comedy appearances. Royale also says she ran a bar in Spain and trained as a Cordon Bleu cook. Her autobiography, Reminiscence, was published in 2011 in aid of the Actors’ Benevolent Fund. These personal career details are attributed to her own account rather than inferred from cast databases.
