Biography

From stage comedy to creating two television series

Daniel Lawrence Taylor is an actor and writer whose route into comedy began during his Drama and Theatre Studies degree at Royal Holloway. In a 2020 interview with his university, he describes bringing the student comedy show Crime Comb to the Edinburgh Fringe and then forming the double act Ginger and Black with Eri Jackson. The university records his BA graduation in 2004; its account is first-person career evidence, not an invitation to infer private biography.

Taylor created, wrote and starred in Timewasters, the period-and-time-travel comedy launched in 2017. His representative’s current profile lists two series and later screen acting in Boarders as Gus, KAOS as Theseus and Isolation Stories: Mel as Kwame. It also lists earlier television credits including Uncle, Man Down and The Tracey Ullman Show. These are selected agency credits, not a complete or independently screen-checked filmography.

The same representative record documents live comedy and stage work including Ginger and Black, Crime Comb and other Fringe productions. The entries do not consistently supply years, so this page does not invent a full dated stage chronology.

Writing and production

Stories he helped bring into being

In the Royal Holloway interview, Taylor explains that he developed Timewasters with Big Talk after deciding to write a comedy centred on a Black jazz group in 1920s Britain. His agency biography identifies him as creator and performer of Boarders. These creative roles are different from his acting credits and should not be flattened into one filmography.

Artwork and photographs

Original fan-art portrait

The header uses a clearly labelled, original editorial likeness illustration created for this independent fan archive. It is not an official image or production still. Agency photographs, press images and programme stills remain on their publishers’ sites unless reuse permission is documented.

Skills

No invented casting attributes

The accessible representative page documents writing, acting and live comedy credits, but does not establish a current accents-and-skills list for this page. Languages, accents, physical skills and voice classifications remain unlisted until an authorised CV supplies them.

Training

Royal Holloway, class of 2004

Royal Holloway identifies Taylor as a 2004 BA Drama and Theatre Studies graduate. In its interview he discusses theatre and comedy work during his degree. No separate drama-school, coaching or specialist-training claim is made here without a source.
