Ludwig Around the World: International Titles and Where It Airs
International Ludwig titles, local broadcasters and dated distribution records, with the original series distinguished from the planned US remake.
Updated 8 October 2026
From 85 markets to more than 100 territories
ITV Studios announced sales to 85 international markets on 26 February 2025. Big Talk Studios now cites more than 100 territories, showing how the series’ reach has grown. John’s Cambridge cases travel under the original name in many places, while some broadcasters use a local title that emphasises the puzzle-maker at the centre of the story.
Use the country sections below to find the broadcaster serving your area. The first-series premiere and a later series’ release can fall on different schedules, so check the named service for the episodes you want to watch. The audience page follows the viewing figures and awards alongside this international record.
Ludwig – pusseldetektiven
In Sweden, SVT Play lists the series as Ludwig – pusseldetektiven. The title puts John’s puzzle-solving at the centre of the programme’s Swedish identity. SVT’s page organises the show by season and episode, giving viewers a direct place to find the local listing. The page also states that viewing is restricted to Sweden.
Swedish readers can use that local title when looking for the programme, then return to the Casebook’s episode numbers for the corresponding guide. The six numbered cases in each series follow the same sequence here. If you are watching for the first time, keep the recap’s ending panels closed until you have finished the episode.
United States and Canada: BritBox
ITV Studios’ February 2025 announcement names BritBox as a co-production partner for the United States and Canada and gives 20 March 2025 as the Series 1 premiere. BritBox is the main North American home of the original programme. Canada also has a later television window on VisionTV, recorded for April 2026 in the table below.
BroadwayWorld’s report of 6 October 2026 gives the Series 2 weekly BritBox run as 13 October to 17 November 2026. That schedule spreads the six episodes across six weeks, after the completed UK BBC One run. If you are following the North American release, use the individual episode recaps as you go; the fuller character stories discuss the second-series finale behind reveal panels. The watching guide brings these dates together with the UK availability information.
Australia and New Zealand
The Australian broadcaster is Seven, with Ludwig on 7plus from January 2025. In New Zealand, the series reached TVNZ+ in December 2024; Newstalk ZB’s 1 December 2024 feature introduced the programme’s arrival. ITV Studios’ international sales announcement names both Seven Network and TVNZ among its Asia-Pacific partners.
TVNZ+’s programme page currently presents the first season and describes Season 2 as coming soon. That gives New Zealand viewers a useful local starting point when deciding what is available. For either country, look for Ludwig on the local service, then choose the matching series and episode guide here. The Casebook’s UK broadcast dates identify the original run; your local release may use a different timetable.
Italy: Giallo
Ludwig arrived on Giallo in Italy from 5 March 2025. ANSA’s report of 4 March 2025 announced the launch, and ITV Studios identifies Giallo as Warner Bros. Discovery’s free-to-air Italian channel. The Italian release keeps Ludwig as the recognisable programme name.
For Italian viewers looking up a case after watching, the series and episode numbers are the simplest way to find the right Casebook page. The guides connect the weekly investigation with the characters and locations appearing around it. You can read the premise first and open the solution only when you are ready.
Germany and ZDF
ZDF joins the production partnership from Series 2. Big Talk’s filming announcement of 4 September 2025 records the co-production with BritBox and ZDF, while ITV Studios’ earlier sales announcement says ZDF acquired both seasons. An exact German broadcast date has not been announced in this record.
ZDF’s role therefore belongs in both the international guide and the production history. It connects the programme’s overseas life with the making of its next run. Readers interested in the creative team can follow the Production File for writers, directors and producers, then use this page to find the relevant local broadcaster as transmission details become available.

US remake
British Comedy Guide reported on 4 April 2025 that Big Talk hired Megan Ganz and Jonathan E. Steinberg to write an American remake. It will have a different title, and no network has been announced. The original David Mitchell series continues to have its own North American release on BritBox. Follow the watching guide if you are looking for that programme.
